A picture is worth 1000 word s

Between running a family of five, a photography business, and a part time job; there is not much time left to sit down and write about all the happenings of our adventures. So I will let the pictures do the talking ...Enjoy!

I miss my baby!

After picking up Brooks from the sitters I asked him " How was your day baby?" He told me "I'm not a baby! I'm a big boy!" I agreed but told him that he would always be my baby. Again he told me "I'm not a baby! I'm a big boy!" Yes you are Brooks but you're still Mom's baby this time he said "Look at me! ...I'm a big boy!" I giggled and said fine, you win. :) It's sad that he won't even let me call him that anymore! He is going to pre school this fall, I can't believe it! He can already spell his own name, and the other day we were connecting the dots in a coloring book and with minimal help he counted all the way to 50! I was very impressed! Later We went for a wagon ride to the park and I got tired of pulling him so I told him it was my turn, that he should pull me. OK! He said thinking it would be really cool. He huffed and he puffed and then he said "You're to fat!!" I'll give it to him I am to heavy for his cute little body :) When we got to the park all he wanted to do was play in the sand He drew a K, which actually looked like a K! And he also drew a picture of Jesus! ha I couldn't quite see the resemblance but then again.. How do we really know what Jesus looks like :)

Funny Kid

I keep a list of funny or cute things Brooks says now, so I can post them. I'll keep them short and sweet :) Here goes....

The mean parent

Brooks wanted to go outside and I told him that he needed to eat his lunch 1st. he looked at me with those big blue eyes and said "Only Daddy's are supposed to be mean!" I giggled and thought poor Brandon! I'm too soft on this kid, but I suppose he is right. Usually Daddy's are the mean one's, Mom's usually take the easy road and lets Dad deal with the punishing. I'd like to think that we take equal part but I know for a fact that I am a little softer on him!

The insult

Brandon was doing his hair when Brooks told him "Daddy you're hair gel stinks!" Brandon must have looked at him funny because then Brooks said "was that rude?"

The Lyrics

We were listening to one of my favorite songs (I need you, By Tim McGraw and Faith Hill) One of the lines is: I need you like Uncle Joe needs the rain. Brooks asked me "Who's uncle Joe? and what does he need the rain for?" It got me thinking..what does he think the lyrics mean in half the songs we listen to :) I explained that Uncle Joe was probably a Farmer and he needs the rain for his gardens to grow, He said "OH....Do I need the rain to grow?"

The drive-thru

We pulled up to the drive thru at Wendy's and the Lady asks for our order. I was about to tell her what we wanted when Brooks yells from the back seat " Can I just get a dog" Like it was a drive thru animal shelter ha!

My many faces

I tend to make some crazy faces now and then especially when I sing in the car, We were jammin' out to a great song and I looked back at Brooks and he looked at me funny and said "Why you makin that face?" It made me laugh

A questionable good time

We were on our way to lunch with my Mom when Brooks asked me "Do you think this is gonna be fun?" Not sure how much fun it really was for him but it was funny that he asked me that

Loves for a stranger

Brooks is extremely tender hearted! We were at the grocery store and a little girl was crying. He asks "Why is she crying Mommy?...I don't know sweetheart? "Does she need a hug?" what a sweet little boy :)

Embarrassing Poo Face

I picked Brooks up from his grandma's and he was just getting a treat for going potty. Grandma said Tell Mommy what you did for your treat! "I went Poo like this" --he shows me his poo face. I said Oh really! Good job! Brooks then says yeah... Like you did last night you went like this--again with the poo face (Just for the record I don't make a poo face ha) How embarrassing! :)

Strange Dream

Last night Brooks had a dream about an earthquake, which I thought was rather strange. Seeing as how he wouldn't know what an earthquake was. The 1st thing he said when he woke up was
" The ground bumped at Grandma Shell's!" he continued on about how the ground cracked and broke and then it opened up and talked to him. As all dreams it was strange :) I wanted to know what it said to him but he couldn't remember.

Rain Rain Go Away...

Today was a cold and gloomy day but we decided not to let it get us down. We took a trip to the park in search of puddles! Sadly :( we were unable to find any. But we did have a lot of fun running around until our fingers froze! It was nice to get to spend the day with him and not be locked up in the house even if it was chilly

A Rough Night

Yesterday, Brooks got to spend the day with his cousins. He always has so much fun over at his Aunt DeAnn's (Dot DeAnn to him) When I picked him up he was covered in dirt from head to toe :) You could tell they had a lot of fun getting dirty like boys do! He was obviously pooped as he refuses to take his usual nap when he is having so much fun with the kids, that he fell asleep on the way home. Oh but when he woke up he was a monster!! I walk in the room to "LEAVE ME ALONE!!"So I say OK then...., you're welcome to come out whenever you want "NO, NEVER!" Then, as soon as I leave " MOMMY MOMMY MOOOOMMY" I come in the room "LEAVE ME ALONE!!" Make up your mind child! There was absolutely no pleasing him, I ask him if he needed anything "NO, NOFFING" All the while giving my the talk to the hand gesture. After about an hour of his screaming for me, then telling me to leave. I had to do something, so I picked him up and told him we were going for a drive "NO I DON'T WANT TO!" He was throwing his little 30lbs body around kicking his legs and grunting with the most angry face I have ever seen on a child before. I couldn't help but laugh! After putting him down I told him I was going to leave and he could stay home by himself then, I got out the door and to the car when I heard him screaming from the front door "DON'T LEAVE ME HOME ALONE MOMMY!" (For the record I was never intending on actually leaving him!) So he then willingly gets in the car :) Yes I think to myself ...This is going to work. As soon as I start the car "I HATE THIS SONG! I DON'T WANT ANY MUSIC, NOFFING!!" oh goodness OK so I turn off the music and we pull away from the house "I WANNA STAY HOME BY MYSELF!" I am telling you there was no pleasing him, it was actually quite comical. He ended up settling down for some licorice bits and a Sprite and we watched Bolt (the movie Mom & Terry got him for Easter) which he enjoyed very much. When he finally calmed down he told me "I'm kinda cold Mommy, I need a heater, a hug and a blankey!" I just though it was funny how angry he was and how damn stubborn he is, definitely his mothers child :)

Don't die the eggs!!

Brooks and some of his friends and cousins got together at the park to dye some eggs, it was lots of fun and there were many colorful beautiful masterpieces made :) When Brooks was asked if he wanted to dye eggs, he got really sad and said No don't die the eggs! After a little explaining that dying them did not mean that we were killing them, he has fun coloring the eggs.

We had a couple of egg hunts this year, Brooks got a whole lot of goodies! And he enjoyed a rabbit cake at the end of the day :)

Broken eyeballs

This morning Brooks woke up earlier than normal, he has croup and the coughing woke him up while it was still dark outside. He started crying and saying Mommy, my eyeballs aren't working" I asked him what he meant and he told me "they're black I can't see!" I thought it was funny, he must have thought the sun was supposed to be up already and it scared him. Silly kid :)
